Colonia’s Day

We had 14 runners on this busy Saturday and although most ran very well, Colonia, our newest import from France who came to us at the beginning of May ran a terrific race, very European style, at the back, getting into gear down the stretch and passing her rivals in the Hatoof Stakes at Arlington.  A very straight forward filly at home she looked like a superstar today.  Congratulations to owners Madaket Stables and Michael Dubb.

As I mentioned the others ran good races and can not be too disappointed with most of them but we have to be very proud of our little (not sure if she even reaches 15 hands)! Thewayiam.  She had never run further than a mile and sixteenth before today.  Today’s race was 1 1/4 miles so John Velazquez had to wait and be patient until the last minute for her to get the trip.  The only horse better than her was one of the top fillies from Ireland who was running an incredible third time in 16 days and 2nd time in 6 days (and flying in from Ireland).  You have to hand it to her.  Regardless there were some top class fillies in that race and as always Thewayiam held her own.  Well done her.

We are very fortunate to have her with us, she’s tough and tries hard every time.
