Irish War Cry Pointing Toward Pennsylvania Derby

Isabelle Haskell de Tomaso’s IRISH WAR CRY continued his preparations for the Grade 1 Pennsylvania Derby with a 5 furlong move on the main track at Fair Hill on Monday, August 28. Breezing in company with Spring Quality, the pair completed the work in 1:01.4 with Irish War Cry pulling away from his workmate just before the finish line.

With still no clear leader emerging after last weekend’s Travers Stakes at Saratoga, the Pennsylvania Derby could be pivotal in determining this year’s 3-year-old championship honors. The 1 1/8 mile contest offers a purse of $1,250,000 and will be run at Parx Racing in Bensalem, Pa., on Saturday, September 23.

I just love this horse. I believe that he is going to mature into a really good four year old handicap horse just like Gun Runner has. Good luck Irish.
