Manhattan Again

After two long shots winning the Manhattan Stakes (Grade 1) for us in subsequent years it might be a surprise to everyone else but not to us!  Two very talented horses, with last years winner Ascend and today’s Spring Quality.  As far as we were concerned it was just a matter of finding the right race and this was it!  Spring Quality didn’t have the best of draws, and in fact as someone put it, he was drawn IN Manhattan FOR the Manhattan, drawn 13 of 13.   Never underestimate Edgar Prado.   If he could have stayed on the rail he would but he hasn’t ridden 7,000 winners for nothing.  A lot of jockeys are lucky to have that many rides!  Spring Quality is now six and showed today that he is at the top of his game.  Congratulations to George Strawbridge, Jr., owner and breeder.

Interesting fact brought to my attention – he was only 3/5 second off the 24 year old track record and his Equibase E figure of 126 is the second highest of any horse this year.

    Hi Sue,

I wanted to congratulate Herringswell via you but keep missing you at the Post Office. Irish War Cry got the winning roll going and now a great weekend–makes a rainy Monday feel good even for those of us living vicariously through your wins.
