Scholar Athlete – Wow!

In what was probably the toughest race so far for him, Scholar Athlete showed his grit and determination to win his sixth race at Aqueduct today.  It got pretty tight in the last sixteenth with about five horses across but Trevor McCarthy kept his place and he won by a neck with the fast finishing Grade 1 winner Wake Forest in his wake!!!  He’s always been a very consistent runner but seems to be one of those horses who improve with age.  Trevor made the big move to New York earlier this year and it’s great to be able to keep him on our horses.  Congratulations to West Point Thoroughbreds and their partners (a few of whom were there I saw).

He also broke the track record!

GO SCHOLAR !!! Would love to see him go up against some more Graded Stakes and black-type stakes winners in an actual stakes race next time out; he seems to have proved himself – and then some – in allowance races.
