Spring Quality Wins First Graded Stake

Written by Sue Kenny on November 11, 2017

Raced once as a two year old, had his three year old season off, ran once as a four year old.    Rather a spotty racing career up to then but Spring Quality is now a bigger much stronger horse at five years old and has reeled off three wins and two seconds in a seven race year, culminating in today’s win in the Grade 3 Red Smith Handicap at Aqueduct over one mile and three quarters.  Although a Grade 3 it has some fancied Grade 1 horses in it so it certainly wasn’t a walk in the park.    What an amazing horse he’s been this year as he’s won from seven furlongs, one mile and one sixteenth and today’s distance of one mile and three eighths.  Congratulations to owners George Strawbridge, Jr and Jay Hass.
