Manighar 2006

Manighar was bred by the Aga Khan and ran in France, England and Australia, finishing up his career in the US.  His very impressive race record is below, including fifth in the Melbourne Cup and many Graded Stakes wins and places.

After a few races it was clear he was ready for retirement so he is another that Phillip Dutton graciously added to his band from Herringswell.  His ownership is retained by the Hon. Earle Mack.

He is picking things up very quickly and below is a recent video of him in a jumping session with Phillip.

Phillip decided after a while that Manighar was not cut out to be a high level eventer so Penny Woolley, who’s husband Tim trains at Fair Hill, used to see him on the track and said if he ever needed a home she would love to have him.  Well, that’s what happened and although it is still a work in progress they are doing quite well at local shows.  Penny said he is quite opinionated when it come to things he doesn’t want to do – and he usually wins!  She’s taken him back to 2 foot jumps as higher than that was not to his liking.  However, he was reserve champion in his class the other day!

Manighar just won another ribbon at the local show.  Penny and he did a wonderful job!

He is improving with every show and really getting his jumping together with Penny’s patience….

Would love to see him show someday. Just loved watching him run and was overjoyed when he came to the US.

I help Penny with Manighar and this statement is incorrect. Manighar LOVES to jump. He actually is squealing and having fun
He was reserve champion in the 2’6″ division. He schools much higher however I am a firm believer that until you fix all of you problems at a low level you should not move up. Manny gets very excited to jump he absolutely is loving life. But we need to stay under 3 feet until we are nearly perfect. Please come see Manny sometime . I belive you will be pleasantly surprised!!!!!
He’s a lucky horse to be owned by Penny!!!!!!!!!
