3 Today

Today we’ve had three winners (four if you count Miss Lombardi’s baby).

First off was Irish Strait who has been rather unlucky since winning his maiden at Gulfstream Park at the end of the last year.   He dug in well today to win his allowance at Monmouth.  Isabelle de Tomaso, his owner and breeder is in Italy but her sister Hope Jones was on hand to receive him in the winners circle.

Second off was the lovely Joy who has been rather quiet and sweet for the last few days.  Joy is a very easy to read filly, either ‘talk me me’ or ‘leave me alone’!  Third in the All Brandy Stakes at Laurel last year, this year she won.  She’s now a multiple Stakes winner who has won almost $250,000.   Owned and bred by David and JoAnn Hayden of Dark Hollow Farm, who have an amazing record of breeding top class horses.

Next up was Cap’s Vow, owned and bred by George Strawbridge, Jr., who destroyed her field by six lengths at Penn National.

Always a special mention to Miss Lombardi’s baby’s.  She has had two to run so far and both are winners, Miss Bullistic being a Stakes winner and won a Maryland bred award last year.  Today it was the turn of Mount Coronet who was winning his allowance race.  Both are trained by Hamilton Smith and Mount Coronet was actually named as a yearling by Chappy Motion.  Both of her runners are by different stallions and this year she foaled an Animal Kingdom.
