The Club Racing Stable, Sagamore Farm and Allen Rosenblum’s MISS TEMPLE CITY returned to the races after a six-month freshening with a sparkling win in this afternoon’s Grade 1, $300,000 Maker’s 46 Mile Stakes at Keeneland. The only filly in the tough field of nine, the 4-year-old daughter of Temple City – Glittering Tax (by Artax) “had a great trip” under Drayden Van Dyke, who added that she “took off like a rocket” when asked.

Also entered in Saturday’s Grade 1 Coolmore Jenny Wiley Stakes at Keeneland, the decision was reached yesterday to instead face the colts in today’s race. Bred in Kentucky by Bobfeld Bloodstock, she bested Heart to Heart and Tourist for the win and returned $14.60 – $6.60 – $3.80.

What a race and brilliant trip from Drayden! He wasn’t taking any chances of getting shut off this time at Keenland and the way he boxed Tourist in on the turn was purely reminiscent of a savvy journeyman move. I have never seen a horse that epitomizes the beauty of a thoroughbred more. The way her colors meld from dark to light at their seams is akin to the work of a great artist blending shades on canvas. Congratulations.
