Toupie “Never In Doubt” In Las Cienegas Stakes-G3

It was her second spin across the downhill turf course at Santa Anita, and TOUPIE scored an authoritative win in the Las Cienegas Stakes-G3 today. She reunited with Flavien Prat, who was also aboard last September 28 when she won the listed Unzip Me Stakes Presented by Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance.

Sent off as the even money favorite, Toupie established her lead quickly and settled on the rail. Clearly comfortable throughout the trouble-free trip, she accelerated effortlessly at the top of the stretch and finished a strong and unchallenged 2 1/4 lengths in front of her seven rivals.

Now a 4-year-old, Wertheimer & Frere’s homebred daughter of Uncle Mo – Amertume (by Tapit) has now won five of her 11 career starts. This was her fourth stakes win and first in graded company.  She’s steadily building quite the solid and impressive resume.

Cheers to Wertheimer & Frere and to Flavien Prat on another flawless ride!
