He’s the new guy in town, but LIGHT MOOD (FR) introduced himself to U.S. racing with a win at Delaware Park on one of their marquee days. Irad Ortiz, Jr. was in town to ride and took the call from Graham for the 1 1/16th mile optional allowance on the turf.
Light Mood was very consistent in France, never worse than third in four starts after breaking his maiden in his second race. He was bred there by Ecurie Jean-Louis Bouchard. His sire, City Light (FR), won the 2018 Prix de St. George-Gr. 3 and the 2019 Qatar Prix du Pin-Gr. 3, both at Longchamp. Light Mood is out of multiple stakes placed Upbeat Mood, by Mizzen Mast.
He won today for his new ownership group of Madaket Stables, LLC, Bill Strauss and Hal Mintz. Congratulations to the connections!
