A Sparkling Afternoon at Keeneland

Shared Account’s younger half-sister is now a graded stakes winner. SPARKLE BLUE had quite a moment in the sun in Lexington this afternoon with an eye-catching win in Keeneland’s featured Rubicon Valley View Stakes-G3.

Joel Rosario provided one of his patented sharp and thoughtful rides. After breaking alertly, he guided Sparkle Blue to a spot on the rail just behind the two leaders, where she tracked comfortably until tipped out and asked for more down the lane. She responded brilliantly, kicking past the front runners to win by 2 1/2 lengths.

It was the second victory in three starts this year for the 3-year-old daughter of Hard Spun and Silk N’ Sapphire (by Smart Strike). She began her sophomore season with a score in Delaware Park’s Christiana Stakes on July 2, followed up with a second in the Woodford Reserve Virginia Oaks at Colonial Downs on September 6. Today’s win edges her career stats up to 7-4-1 with $357,075 earned.

The dark bay filly was bred in Kentucky by Catherine Parke, who co-owns her with Augustin Stable. She carried Augustin’s iconic white and green silks in today’s race. Congratulations to all on another terrific win by Sparkle Blue!
