A Win For Wet My Beak

The 2022 Preakness Meet at Pimlico Race Course opened this afternoon, and WET MY BEAK found the historic oval much to her liking. It was the perfect maiden win for the Maryland-bred and owned daughter of Union Rags and the Speightstown mare Who’s In Town.

This 3-year-old filly is easy to spot in a crowd – she has her sire’s bright bay coat, wide blaze and white stockings. She finished fifth in her debut at Laurel Park last month under Feargal Lynch, who was back aboard today. Wet My Beak stalked three-wide in the compact field of six fillies before taking charge at the 1/8 pole and going on to win by 3/4 length.

And here’s an interesting stat, posted on Twitter by Dan Illman of the Daily Racing Form:

“Wet My Beak ($7.80) added to Herringswell Stables’ phenomenal record with second-out dirt runners (8 for the last 19) with an outside stalking victory in today’s third at Pimlico Race Course under Feargal Lynch.”

Congratulations to Dr. Michael Golden’s Sycamore Hall Farm!
