Ambitieuse Back In The Winner’s Circle

It had been a long time since AMBITIEUSE posed for a win photo. She broke her maiden as a 2-year-old in her second start on December 29, 2021 at Gulfstream Park.  She ran three times in 2022 – all in stakes, with her best performance on February 5 in Gulfstream’s Sweetest Chant Stakes-G3 where she was a close second to Opaline.

Given a break after a chip removal last May, she returned to training in October and made her first start in 10 months on February 8, 2023 in a Gulfstream allowance, followed by another try at the same condition on March 5.

Shipped up to Tampa Bay Downs and paired with jockey Angel Suarez, Ambitieuse decided today was the day for another tick in the win column. Seven older fillies & mares went 1 1/16th miles on the turf, with Ambitieuse in front from gate to wire. She held a comfortable, ground-saving lead down the backstretch and then gritted out a threat from a closing Maccool’s Girl to hold on and win by a neck. Plain and simple, she wasn’t going to lose!

Congratulations to Wertheimer and Frere who bred and own the now 4-year-old daughter of Medaglia d’Oro and Lucky Folie, by Distorted Humor.
