I was fortunate to enjoy several days in beautiful Lexington, Kentucky last week, highlighted by a visit to Gainesway Farm to check in with some of Herringswell’s best-known mares. As these ladies are all fan favorites, I wanted to share some images.
First stop was MEAN MARY, who returned to Gainesway earlier this summer after her date with top international sire Frankel (GB) in England. She was happy to see us, but really annoyed that we didn’t have any peppermints……what WERE we thinking??!

Next was a drive through the absolutely stunning property for a visit with SHARED ACCOUNT. She lives in a gorgeous stone-walled pasture with several other mares, and was happily grazing when we stopped by.

Her daughter SHARING is turned out near one of the training barns with another familiar name, Spanish Bunny – dam of Spendarella. Sharing was a bit more interested in her visitors, and posed for these photos taken by Mary Motion.

And since we’ve mentioned Spendarella, meet her parents! Her sire Karakontie (JPN) is the top photo below, with dam Spanish Bunny directly beneath.

And….since no visit to Gainesway is complete without an audience with The Man Himself – here are a few of Tapit for good measure!

Very special thanks and much gratitude to Gainesway’s Ben Gowans for graciously hosting us!
