Angel On Her Shoulder

We said this when she broke her maiden at Tampa Bay Downs on December 8, so please forgive us for being repetitive. But HEAVENLY APPOINTED is a special filly.

She and Kevin Gomez paired up there again today, stepping up to allowance company for this one going 1 1/16 miles on the turf. Heading into the backstretch, she had one beaten in the field of ten fillies and mares. But by the quarter pole, she had plenty of gas left and a clear path to run down the leaders and kick clear by 2 1/4 lengths at the wire. You could tell she was quite proud of herself afterward. Returning to the main track for the gallop back, she was so keen that Kevin had to remind her the race was over!

This was career win number two for the homebred 4-year-old daughter of Point of Entry – The Right Pew, by Pulpit. And it was a treat to see green grass today. While we did have bright sunshine here at Fair Hill, everything is still covered with snow. Temps are climbing back up to the 50s this week, and that’s certainly considered very mild for January in Maryland. We’ll take it!

Winning races for the late Mr. Alex G. Campbell, Jr. was always joyous…and nothing about that has changed. Congratulations to Heavenly Appointed’s connections!
