Beautiful Music

She launched her career with a win at first asking as a 2-year-old at Delaware Park on September 7, 2022. Lightly raced since then, CLASSIC VINYL hit all the right notes yesterday at Tampa Bay Downs with a big score in a one mile allowance on the turf.

Sent off at odds of 21-1 with Pablo Morales aboard, she rewarded her backers with a hefty $45.60 – $8.60 – $4.20 payoff (wish I’d had that one!!) Morales had this to say in a post-race interview:

“We had an outside post and I wanted to save some ground on the first turn as much as I could. I was a little bit hung, but my horse was travelling really good……gathering him (sic) as much as I could. My horse responded turning for home and gave me a nice kick. I knew that Chad Brown horse was coming, so I was just riding my butt off trying to get there before him. You just want to keep the horse out of trouble, saving ground in the process. You want to keep the horse comfortable, not overrating them or oversending them or moving early. That’s pretty much standard for a good turf trip.”

Turned out to be the gold standard, Pablo!

Now 4, Classic Vinyl was bred in Virginia by Chance Farm. She is by Maclean’s Music out of Delta Weekend (by Jump Start) and is a half-sister to stakes winner Altamura (by Artie Schiller). Congratulations to her ownership team of Jeremy Sussman, Corey Moelis Racing LLC and Haphazard Racing Inc.!
