Third

Bit of a change around on the last day of the Keeneland meet.  We had two seconds which put us down to the third leading trainer.  I think we were one behind yesterday morning.  This is a very competitive meet so to finish that high in the ranks is very commendable.{jcomments on}

Philosopher Queen

Philosopher Queen winning her first race at Keeneland yesterday.  Ridden by Robbie Albarado she sat behind the pace before making her move to win comfortably.  Congratulations to Augustin Stable.   Photo by Coady Photography{jcomments on}

Turf Melody

Sadly we have to report that Turf Melody had to be euthanized this morning due to complications from surgery.  He will be missed by us all and remembered as a tough Stakes competitor.  Condolonsces to the connections, Earle Mack and Priscilla Graham. Icabad Crane

Tough loss for Icabad Crane in the Empire Classic Stakes at Belmont on Saturday.  He hit the gate on his way out and must have spotted the field at least 15 lengths.  Rajiv Maragh let him settle, kept to the rail and he came with a tremendous run at the end to be beaten 5 lengths.  […]

Two noses

One won, won lost, but both by a nose.  Dynamic Holiday won her first race at Keeneland by a nose – congratulations to Augustin Stable. Look at her looking at the horse beside her! Photo by Wendy Wooley   Sit Chilly lost by a nose at Laurel after being floated out near the line – […]

Rampaige

I haven’t spelled it wrong!  First race, first win, all at Keeneland today.  Not bad for a little two year old fresh out of Fair Hill!  He’s owned by Johnson Brothers Stable with Brent Johnson of Better Talk Now fame as the ‘leader’ and his brother Mike who is testing racehorse ownership for the first […]

Why We Do It

“What time do you get up in the morning?” “4-o’clock.” “You’re crazy.” Check the Label’s Garden City, why we do it. Watch the physical maturation of the 3-year-old filly, her improved physical appearance in the early Spring directly translated to an improved race, an improved season, then to a four-time stakes winner. Useful form to serious form then quickly to stellar form. The growing […]

Daveron

She ran away with the Scoot Stakes at Belmont today, hard held and well ridden by Eddie Castro. This is her second win since coming from her native Germany. Congratulations to Team Valor International.{jcomments on}

Another good day

Two winners and two seconds at Keeneland today.  Ennis and Clarinet both won their races and Please Daddy and Philology were both second in theirs.          Clarinet winning her race – photos by Wendy Uzelac We were a little disappointed with Check The Label as she looked full of run coming round […]

Spring Party

Another winner at Keeneland today with Spring Party.  Stangely run race as she was behind the leaders for a while before dropping back and then coming with a long run to win going away.  George Strawbridge, Jr. was at the races so congratulations to him and his home bred filly.{jcomments on}
