My Macho

After two previous starts My Macho found his feet on the Tampa turf yesterday to win by an ‘in hand’ one and a quarter lengths.  He is a half brother to Karlovy Vary, winner of the Ashland Stakes.  Congratulations to owner, breeder Alex G. Campbell, Jr.

English Bee

First, third, second and now first again in his fourth race over the mile distance, as was his previous win.  Always competitive at Gulfstream he proved he is right up there with the good ones today!  Grass bred true and true by English Channel out of a Kitten’s Joy mare.  Congratulations to Calumet Farm, owners […]

Regally Irish Scores For Mrs. De Tomaso

Mrs. De Tomaso has had a good week at Tampa with Irish Strait winning on Wednesday and Regally Irish, her two year old from the same family, winning today.  Regally Irish’s grandmother is Irish Strait’s mother so they are closely related and both like to bowl along in front and skip away when someone comes […]

Battle Of Saratoga

A pretty impressive fourth run of his career for Battle Of Saratoga today at Aqueduct.  My first thought was ‘oh, my goodness’ as he was skipping away to win by twelve lengths!  Owned and bred by Earle Mack this was a great start of the year for both of them!

Irish Strait Shows Them The Way

What a trooper!    Irish Strait was sent to the front by Feargal Lynch in his usual front running manner, everyone sat pretty thinking they could pick him off at any time but he is so tough and game; he looks for a moment like he’s going to be one-paced and then he finds that extra […]

Her Royal Highness again

A half sister to Calvi who won on Friday,  they couldn’t be more different.  Calvi, a big sweet loving chestnut and Her Royal Highness, rather a snooty grey!  Both take after their daddy’s, color wise.  Her Royal Highness was second first time out over seven furlongs and won last time over one mile.  Today’s race […]

Shootin The Breeze

Who liked the ‘off the turf’ dirt, and who didn’t?  Shootin The Breeze did!  He made it look easy at Tampa yesterday drawing away to win by nine.  He was second on the turf at Laurel in his debut so nice to have a dual-surface horse in these circumstances.  He is from owner and breeder […]

Calvi again!

An absolute barn favorite, Calvi won his third race of the year today.  He was a little slow out of the gate but made his way to the front and led them a good clip to win by two and a quarter lengths.  Congratulations to owner and breeder Albert Frassetto.

Still Dreaming

A lovely chestnut colt owned by West Point Thoroughbreds and Chris Larsen Still Dreaming got the extra distance of the mile today (his first race was six furlongs) and he liked that.  Going off as favorite he sat close to the pace and drew off by three at the wire.  Hopefully this half brother to […]

Si Que Es Buena

Yes, that’s good!  That’s her name in English.  She ran a very good 4th in her States debut a month ago and ran a terrific race today in the Via Borghese at Gulfstream.  Her jockey Chris Landeros made a good move round the turn keeping the favorite in so he could get the jump on […]
