Tiz A Chance again

What a difference a gelding can make!  After running close in five races Tiz A Chance was gelded and so far, has not looked back.  He won his last start at the tricky distance of 7f with Manny Franco and the pair repeated the process today, both times at Belmont.  Congratulations to George Strawbridge, Jr.

A Day In The Life: Better Talk Now

When Breeders’ Cup champion Better Talk Now ended his racing career at age 10 in 2009, owner Brent Johnson never wavered on how the earner of $4,356,664 would spend his retirement. “Blackie” was, is and always will be a Fair Hill horse. That decision certainly set well with everyone here at Herringswell. After seven seasons […]

Miss Temple City at Ascot

As usual, or should I say, as always, Miss Temple City ran a very honest race in very rain softened ground at Ascot this afternoon.  She’s never encountered that kind of ground so it was an unknown to her but she ran well with high weight and a little trouble, finished 4th to Europe’s best […]

Miss Katie Mae

After running her first two races in this country over 1m 1/16 furlongs Miss Katie Mae was cut back to the distance she’d been running previously in Ireland.  It’s hard to find sprint Stakes but Woodbine had a 6 1/2 furlong one today which was exactly what she needed.  Ridden confidently by Javier Castellano she […]

Conscription

It was lovely to see Mrs. Abercrombie and her farm manager Clifford Barry in the winners circle today after watching their War Front filly Conscription win her first race.  She had a horse challenge her in the last sixteenth of a mile but she shook her off and won nicely by a length.  Glad they […]

Guilty Twelve

Guilty Twelve came here from England with three runs under her belt, but no wins.  She ran a nice 4th for us in her first race in April and rectified her maiden status last evening with a nice win at Presque Isle Downs on the Tapeta.  Many congratulations to Craig Bennett of Merry Fox Stables.

Irish Defence

First time starter three year old Irish Defence fairly trounced her previously raced rivals today at Monmouth.  She is a home bred for Isabelle de Tomaso from her good mare Irish Sovereign which is apparently a late developing family, so hopefully more to come.  Congratulations.

Bay Angel

After one previous start where she ran a very good third Bay Angel really went to town last night at Penn National to win by 7 lengths.  Rick and Karen Shortess, her owners, always make an effort to go to the races when their horses run and were looking forward to a good night of […]

Elysian

Lightly raced Elysian won her second race from seven starts, at Presque Isle last night on the Tapeta.  She started her career at three, running a couple of very good races on the Keeneland Polytrack and finished that year off with a win at Presque Isle.  She had 2015 off and started back again this […]

Fly Girl

She did just that today and although she won by just a head it was a good win as she lost ground at the break after getting squeezed back.  Confidently ridden by Forest Boyce this was her second win for owner breeder Richard Golden.  Her stablemate Cowgirl Creed, her bumpee at the start, was not […]
