DATAMAN upgraded his status to “Multiple Stakes Winner” today with a score in the Henry S. Clark Stakes at Laurel Park. It was the second win on the card for Graham and jockey Jorge Ruiz, and stablemate English Bee finished second for a Herringswell exacta.

The 4-year-old gelding was making his 2024 debut; he was last seen finishing fourth in the Jockey Club Derby Invitational Stakes at Belmont Park on October 7, 2023. Jorge and Dataman have had a fruitful partnership, teaming up for two wins last summer: a Delaware Park allowance on June 28, and the Bald Eagle Derby at Laurel on August 13. They then paired up for a fifth-place finish in the New Kent County Virginia Derby at Colonial Downs on September 9.

“Dataman is a lovely horse,” Jorge said after the race. “When I ask him to go he goes, so that makes my job much easier. Dataman is The Man!”

Wertheimer & Frere bred and own the son of Tapit – Soldata, by Maria’s Mon. Cheers to them on today’s win, which bring’s Dataman’s stats to 11-4-1-0 with $240,910 earned.
