Dataman Now A Stakes Winner

The Wertheimer and Frere homebreds have been enjoying a terrific year, and DATAMAN added to the excitement this afternoon with his win in Laurel Park’s Bald Eagle Derby.

From the very eloquent Equibase chart: “DATAMAN rated forwardly while saving ground, took closer order under some coaxing nearing the lane, eased out for room leaving the three sixteenths marker, closed determinedly under right-handed asks, reeled in Ari Gold with about a sixteenth remaining, switched over to his left lead while taking over in deep stretch and was edging away at the wire.”

The win marked the second of the day for us and for jockey Jorge Ruiz, who prevailed earlier in the card on our Eidikos (GB). This was the second consecutive score for Dataman and Jorge; the pair won an allowance on the dirt at Delaware Park on June 28 by an eye-popping 11 1/4 lengths.

Dataman is a 3-year old gelding by Tapit from Soldata, by Maria’s Mon. Also in the barn is Serifos,  Dataman’s year-older half-brother by Into Mischief.

Cheers to Wertheimer and Frere on another victory!
