Dataman Scores at Colonial Downs

Wertheimer & Frere’s homebred 2-year-old DATAMAN kept the ball rolling this afternoon, breaking his maiden at Colonial Downs shortly after his stablemate Hendrickson did the same at Presque Isle Downs.

Paddock analyst Jessica Paquette mentioned that the big gray colt displayed “some Tapit-like behavior” when he entered the walking ring. He also displayed Tapit-like talent under jockey Angel Suarez. They travelled down the backstretch as a pair with entry-mate Furiously, with Angel beginning to move coming into the turn. Dataman collared leader Theolovesawinner by the 1/16 pole and hit the wire 1 1/4 lengths in front to win the maiden special weight at a mile on Colonial’s inner turf.

Out of the Maria’s Mon mare Soldata, Dataman is the younger half-brother of Serifos (by Into Mischief), also a recent winner for Wertheimer and Frere and Herringswell.

Congratulations and well done!
