Essaoiura “Authoritative” in Delaware Park Win

She is named for a port city and resort on Morocco’s Atlantic coast in the Marrakesh-Safi region. Much closer to home, this girl loves Delaware Park.  She broke her maiden there last September, and career win number two came Thursday afternoon on the same oval.

Now 3, Essaouira looked like a complete professional in the process. With Jorge Ruiz aboard, she was content to sit comfortably just behind the leaders down the backstretch. When Jorge asked the question going into the final turn, she answered decisively, taking over at the head of the stretch and galloping on to a strong 4 3/4 length win.

Al Shaqab Racing bred and owns the chestnut filly by Super Saver. Her dam is multiple graded stakes winner Eden’s Moon (Malibu Moon – Eden’s Causeway, by Giant’s Causeway), winner of the Las Virgenes Stakes-G1 at Santa Anita and Del Mar’s San Clemente Handicap-G2 in 2012.

Congratulations to the connections!
