His older (gray) half-brother is a Herringswell fan favorite. And this evening at Turfway Park, THE GINGER WIZARD (IRE) showed the apple didn’t fall far from the tree.
The 4-year-old son of Calyx (GB) and the Galileo mare Fancy (IRE) made his first four career starts in his native Ireland, breaking his maiden at Tramore Racecourse on August 17, 2024. He joined Herringswell last Fall, arriving at Keeneland in early October.
He headed postward today in a 12-furlong allowance on the synthetic surface with Vincent Cheminaud in the irons. The pair raced at the back of the field of ten before angling out into the stretch and running down The Dover Specter and Copper Missile to win by 3/4 length, giving Graham his second win on the day.
The Ginger Wizard (IRE) was bred in Ireland by Longfield Stud and is owned jointly by The Estate of Albert Frassetto and Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners. Cheers to all on his first North American win!
