Friday Night Lights

Mrs. Isabelle de Tomaso’s homebred KITTEN’S COLLUSION took a van ride up the road and earned her second career win at the Monmouth at Meadowlands meet last evening. The optional allowance for New Jersey-breds – she did not run for a claiming tag – was run at 1 1/16 miles on the turf.

She sat four-wide into the first turn behind a slow early pace. Down the backstretch, Hector Diaz, Jr. seized the chance to drop down on the rail and gain ground before swinging back out at the head of the stretch to run down the two leaders. They finished a half-length ahead of a game Rob The Treasure, who hung on for second under familiar Fair Hill rider Maddie Rowland.

Now 3, Kitten’s Collusion is by Kitten’s Joy out of the Irish-bred mare Collusiva, by Shamardal. We know how much Mrs. de Tomaso and her family enjoy wins, most especially in New Jersey, so congratulations to them!
