G Laurie Romps in Debut

Madaket Stables LLC’s G LAURIE was an eye-catching winner in her first start at Colonial Downs this afternoon. The field of seven 2-year-old maiden fillies went 1 1/16 miles on the inner turf course. Ridden by Jorge Ruiz, the daughter of Oscar Performance raced toward the back of the pack down the backstretch before unleashing a sweeping move going into the far turn, effortlessly passing rivals. Once in front, she just kept going….and going!….to win by six lengths.

Out of the stakes placed mare Lovely Island (by Arch), G Laurie was bred in Kentucky by Ken and Sarah Ramsey. Madaket purchased her in last summer’s Saratoga Select Yearling Sale. Congratulations to them, as she’s clearly one to watch going forward!
