Happy 30th birthday to Gala Spinaway (pictured above at Better Talk Now’s retirement party in 2010).  Born on May 26th 1988 at Dr. Robert Leonard’s Glade Valley Farms he is now living out his retirement at Fair Hill where he shares a paddock with 2014 Breeders Cup Turf winner Main Sequence.

Gala Spinaway was the first stakes winner and first graded stakes winner for Graham in his first year as a trainer in 1993. Owned by Skip and Gertrude Leviton who played a major role in getting Graham’s career off the ground.  Both recently passed away at the age of 102 and 97 respectively. Spinaway retired in 1994 with earnings of $691,867
