Hardspun Reason Scores at Pimlico

Jockey Victor Carrasco enjoyed a terrific Preakness Weekend at Pimlico, and he kept the party going this afternoon with HARDSPUN REASON. Sycamore Hall Thoroughbreds, LLC and Hillwood Stable, LLC bred and own the son of Hard Spun and the Not for Love mare Love’s Reason.

Love’s Reason was a stakes winner for Hillwood, capturing the 2010 Maryland Juvenile Filly Championship Stakes. Hardspun Reason’s half-sister (by Majestic Warrior) is graded stakes winner and 2019 Maryland-bred champion Majestic Reason.

Hardspun Reason, a 3-year-old Maryland-bred, was making just his second career start in this maiden/waiver claiming event (he did not run for a tag) going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Old Hilltop. He sat 5th in the field of seven, saving ground through the turn. Carrasco swung him outside in upper stretch, and the pair drew off to win by 4 ½ lengths.

Congratulations to Mike Golden of Sycamore Hall and Mrs. Ellen Charles of Hillwood Stable!
