Several members of the Herringswell family gathered at nearby Old Stone Cider on Sunday evening, October 25, 2020, to honor Robbie Walsh. An important member of the team since 2011, Robbie has ridden many of our top runners over the years, including Animal Kingdom, Toby’s Corner, Messi (GER), Ring Weekend, Main Sequence, Secret Message, Mean Mary, and Miss Temple City, whom he accompanied to the Breeders’ Cup in 2016.

Robbie was also one of the top steeplechase jockeys for several years, always ranked among the leading riders. Credited with several graded stakes wins, he is perhaps best known as the regular rider of Demonstrative, winner of the 2014 Eclipse Award as champion steeplechaser.

Along with his wife Carmel, son Kevin and daughter Laura, Robbie is returning to his native Ireland within the next few weeks. As Graham said in a toast last evening, Robbie’s contributions have had a tremendous impact on the success of our barn.
