Hitting the road again

It’s another active weekend on tap, as several Herringswell runners will see stakes action.  On Saturday, Augustin Stable’s venerable Smart Bid heads to Penn National for the $100,000 East Hanover Stakes going 1-1/2 miles on the turf. The son of Smart Strike continues to close in on $1 million in earnings; he is currently at $933,013.  Jeremy Rose has the mount.

On the van with Smart Bid will be Dianne Cotter’s Toby’s Corner, who faces seven in the $175,000 Mountainview Handicap.  By Bellamy Road – whom Mrs. Cotter also bred – Toby is looking for his first win on the year.

We’ll be at Monmouth on Sunday, with two runners in stakes on the Haskell Invitational’s busy undercard.  Team Valor International sends out Brujo de Olleros – shown below breezing under John Velazquez –  in the $100,000 Majestic Light Stakes under Rafeal Bejarano. It will be the Brazilian import’s first start for Herringswell.

Live Oak Plantation’s Unbridled Humor is making her third consecutive start at Monmouth in the $150,000 Taylor Made Matchmaker Stakes (G3).  She was third in both Eatontown Handicap (G3) and the Violet Stakes (G3).  Joe Rocco, Jr. retains the mount on the gray daughter of Distorted Humor.
