Honorable Shoutouts

Four of the seconds we had today deserve honorable Shout Outs!  Untamed Domain was caught with a lot of kick back from the grass throwing up from a softened turf course in the American Turf Stakes-G2 at Churchill today but still got to second place behind winner Maraud who won the Palm Beach Stakes-G3 last time out.

Lottie (pictured above) was having her first start since last November and finished second in the Sheepshead Bay-G2, a very prestigious New York stake for fillies to kick off their turf season .

Cute note!  I was walking back from the track the other day and not talking, just deep in thought and Pedro on Lottie came by and said she’d been watching me the whole way and was pulling herself nearer and nearer to me!  I always give her peppermints (in fact she’ll drag her rider, hotwalker, whomever is walking her) over to me if I am on my peppermint rounds.  She makes sure she doesn’t miss out!

Another horse who hasn’t run since last November put up a terrific performance in the Fort Marcy Stakes-G3 at Belmont.  That was sweet Spring Quality, our gentleman six-year-old.  He was beaten by the undefeated Robert Bruce (CHI).

Next up was Irish Strait, half brother to Irish War Cry, who is by English Channel and loves the grass, was beaten a NOSE in the Cliff Hanger Stakes at Monmouth.  He hasn’t run since September of last year.

All in all, we ran in four stake races today and finished second in ALL of them!!

Proud of all of them!!

My first visit to your Herringswell Stable page has been quite refreshing. This is how I picture horse racing to be for me. And not just because I love giving out cookies on a shed row. *chuckles*

You have respect and love for the animals in your care. I wish more trainers were like you, sir.

Good luck with your crew. It sounds like they’ll be turning those seconds into firsts soon.
