Irish War Cry

photo by Jim McCue, Laurel Park.

Anyone who has been around horses knows there are highs and lows.  We had a high today with Irish War Cry winning his maiden at Laurel in impressive fashion.  Owned and bred by Isabelle de Tomaso he is now the sixth winner from six starters for his dam Irish Sovereign.  We have been fortunate to have her last four babies.  Congratulations to Isabelle who was over from her home in Italy and was able to watch the race.

I had him as my top Derby Hopeful after his maiden . We started an Irish war cry page at Horse racing nation if you want to peak in sometime . Hoping for big things . If he goes back to eating like he did I his maiden watch out. If he improves in the stretch he’s gonna be a superstar . So excited for what’s to come.

Any Curlin that runs that well as a two year old is really a horse to watch. Not many are talking about how the favorite basically pushed IWC out into the parking lot at the top of the stretch. With those long strides in the final 1/16, it was as if IWC wanted to run a few more furlongs. So excited to watch this horse. Congratulations to the owners/handlers and I hope this son of my favorite horse has a healthy 2017 campaign.

This is a good looking horse, being from NJ, I gotta root for this guy. I heard he is going in the Marylander Stakes at Laurel Park next, is this a possibility?

Jeff, that is the plan at the moment.

I would also like to place a future wager on this guy, but I cannot see a published workout since his Laurel win. Is he healthy and still in training? Plans for being on Derby trail or not?

He just ran a couple of weeks ago, we don’t work them back that quick but he is fine and doing well. Derby trail would be nice, we’ll wait and see.

I think impressive is an understatement. Where can we expect to see him next ? His sire being Curlin, the sky is the limit. I actually am trying to get a derby future bet on this guy after watching his debut !!!
