Million-Dollar Beauty

The old adage “Pretty is as pretty does” rang true today when VERGARA turned in a sparkling performance to win the $1,000,000 Aristocrat Ladies Marathon Stakes-G3 at Kentucky Downs.

Ridden by Joel Rosario, she stalked early leader Glenall, tugging a bit against a pedestrian pace. She “took command under confident handling two-deep into the upper stretch” and responded to Joel’s strong drive, winning by 3/4 lengths.

Gary Broad of Walmac Farm purchased the now 4-year-old filly by Noble Mission (GB) at the 2020 Keeneland September Yearling sale for $130,000. Today’s win made her a millionaire, bringing her career stats to 13-4-2-3 and $1,102,213 in the bank.

Neil Jones bred her in Kentucky from the Street Cry (IRE) mare Figure of Beauty. And yes, she IS named for another great beauty, actress Sofia Vergara.

Congratulations to Gary Broad on this milestone win today!
