She enjoyed it so much last year, she went back today and did it again. NO SHOW SAMMY JO (GB) defended her title in the All Along Stakes at Laurel Park this afternoon. And she did it with the same partner aboard in Jorge Ruiz; today’s win was their third together.
The 9-furlong grass route is named for Daniel Wildenstein’s multiple graded stakes winning All Along (FR), Horse of the Year and Champion Grass Mare in 1983. The earner of $2,125,828 was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1990.
Today’s race ended in a Herringswell exacta after No Show Sammy Jo battled down the stretch with stablemate Sirona (GER) before getting her nose in front at the wire for a photo. This was win number five from her 11 career starts.
By Lope de Vega (IRE) from the Exceed and Excel (AUS) mare Shomaria (FR), Sammy Jo was bred in England by Fittocks Stud and St Albans Bloodstock Ltd. She is owned by Bridlewood Farm and Madaket Stables LLC, who celebrated today’s win.
