Our girls!

Even though we didn’t get a win or a place in tonights Breeders Cup Filly and Mare Turf I think we have to be proud of our girls! Aruna, being restrained in quite a slow pace was eventually allowed to make her way through the pack and was only beaten 3/4, nose, head, head which I reckon is only a length! She’d never run the distance of 1 3/8 before and it was good to see that she was comfortable with it. Shared Account did not get her rail run as last year and was hung wide most of the race but finished only 1 1/2 lengths behind Aruna. We love our girls and although it wasn’t to be this evening we are still proud of them.

My other standouts tonight in other races were Shumoos, running for the first time on dirt. She came from England after running very competitively on grass with a totally dirt pedigree! She was second in the Juvenile Sprint against the boys.

Musical Romance who won the Filly and Mare Sprint. She apparently broke her ankle two days after being bought from the OBS Breeze up sales but overcame that and the screws that had to be inserted.

Royal Delta’s win in the Ladies Classic was bitter sweet for her connections, especially for the farm. The owner died last January and all the horses are to be dispersed next week. The Manager said he will be going back to a farm with no horses – how sad is that?{jcomments on}
