Princess Pita Wins Career Debut

It was another win photo at Laurel Park today for jockey Jorge Ruiz, who piloted Gary Broad’s PRINCESS PITA to victory in her first start.

Breaking from the #1 hole, she was off just a half-step slow. Ruiz held his position on the rail throughout, seizing the opportunity to angle out when the field opened up in mid-stretch. Leader Winked seemed to have the race won at that point, but Princess Pita had plenty left and motored under the wire 3 1/4 lengths in front with her ears up.  And she was clearly very proud of herself as she and Ruiz jogged back to the winner’s circle!

The 3-year-old Munnings filly is out of the Point Given mare Fancy Point and was bred in Kentucky by Kinsman Farm.

Congratulations to Mr. Broad on this first-out win!
