Roja’s Day At The Beach

It was all red and blue at the Jersey Shore today as ROJA put in a dominant performance to win the $100,000 Blue Sparkler Stakes at Monmouth Park. The 3-year-old filly by Karakontie (JPN) has been consistent in her five career starts, all of which have been in 2025 as she was unraced at 2.

She debuted at Tampa Bay Downs in a maiden special on March 8 and has faced the starters once each month since then. Her second start, at Keeneland on April 11, was the the only time she failed to hit the board, finishing 7th after being floated wide in the stretch. Breaking her maiden at Laurel Park on May 25, she then graduated to stakes company there in the Stormy Blues Stakes on June 15.

That one ended in a heartbreaker with Roja bested at the wire by Gata Brazil. It wouldn’t be the case today though, as she absolutely romped away from the field to score by 3 1/2 lengths under Jaime Rodriguez.

Roja is out of stakes placed Redmeansgo (by Red Ransom) and was bred in Kentucky by C. Kidder. Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners purchased her for $70,000 at the July 2023 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Select Yearling Sale. They now own her in partnership with Madaket Stables LLC. Congrats to all of the connections on today’s first stakes win!
