Scholar Athlete came to us as a two year old and stayed until he retired at seven. He was Graded Stakes placed and always ran his best and never gave up. Like all the horses who are with you for many years everyone gets very fond of them and when they leave it’s as if part of the family is missing. However, Mel Goetz has given him a wonderful retirement in Michigan.
In the short time I have owned “Scholar” (Scholar Athlete), he has shown me what a great horse he is. I can certainly tell he is a seasoned traveler, as he settles quickly and knows no stranger. I even caught him hanging out in the pasture with the barn cat, Kiwi. He meets me at the gate, ears up and bright eyed, every day, even if he is in the middle of eating, which he LOVES to do. Under saddle, he is quiet and laid back which is just what I was looking for. I am taking things slow with him, getting to know him and introducing him to Dressage. I also see some trail riding in our future as he loves a leisurely walk. Thoroughbreds have always been my breed of choice and Scholar is a perfect example of why. His personality is the absolutely best. Paired with a sane mind, I am lucky to have him in my life.
