Screen Test Stars at Laurel Park

SCREEN TEST made her second start a winning one at Laurel Park this afternoon. With Jorge Ruiz up, she faced nine other 2-year-old fillies going one mile on the turf.

The chart is masterfully written: “Screen Test broke inward bumping a rival then was squeezed back soon after, edged up between runners into the first turn then dropped in towards the rail, edged up into the far turn then quickly gained past the three-eighths, steadied off heels past the five-sixteenths, recovered then angled out, rolled up to engage embattled foes to her inside leaving the three-sixteenths, took over a furlong out then eagerly drew out under left-handed encouragement.”

And any win at Laurel means there was a typically spirited call by track announcer Dave Rodman: “Screen Test, all of a sudden on the scene…fourth and now third and out in the clear. Here comes Screen Test with a menacing bid…Screen Test is set down to try to test Coach Mazzulla who’s wrested a narrow lead…Screen Test pushes by with one furlong left to go under steady left-handed urging, opening up on Coach Mazzulla. Screen Test and Jorge Ruiz – they’re flashy winners by some three at the finish.”

Screen Test is a homebred (by Mrs. Jerry Amerman) for Amerman Racing LLC. By Not This Time out of Joy of Learning, she is the half-sister to Grade 1 winner Test Score. We’re happy to celebrate this win with them!
