It’s the gift that keeps on giving. SHAREDASHENANIGANS won her first start at Laurel Park today, and it would be impossible for us to not feel emotional about it. As we mentioned earlier this year, we’ve had dams and their offspring in the barn before, but this third generation is a first for Herringswell.
And what an incredible family it’s been. The 2-year-old Into Mischief filly is the first foal out of 2019 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf-G1 winner Sharing, who gave us so many thrills and highlights during her career. And granddam Shared Account is also a multiple graded stakes winning Breeders Cup Champion, winning the Emirates Airlines Filly & Mare Turf-G1 in 2010. Both mares were beloved by the whole team, and Sharedashenanigans’ arrival at the end of March had all of us excited.
She debuted in a maiden special weight going five furlongs on Laurel’s main track with Victor Carrasco in the irons. The pair were “three deep prompting the pace around the turn, took command in upper stretch, went clear approaching the eighth pole and was kept under pressure in the drive.”
“I appreciate it a lot, these good opportunities, and try my best to get it done,” Victor said. “She was great. Very professional and did everything in a mature way. I’m sure she’s a good one.”
Bred in Kentucky by Gainesway, Sharedashenanigans was a $500,000 purchase by Boardshorts Stables at the 2023 Keeneland September Yearling Sale.
“Boardshorts, managed by former Sagamore Farm president Hunter Rankin, sent Sharedashenanigans to Motion knowing his connection with the family. Motion trained Sharing’s mare, Sagamore’s 2010 Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf (G1) winner Shared Account, and still has multiple graded-stakes winner Sparkle Blue, the last foal out of the mare Silk n’ Sapphire, the dam of Shared Account.” (Maryland Jockey Club press release)
Congratulations to all on a terrific win by this special filly!
