Soleil Volant All Heart in Kent Stakes Win

He’s always knocking on the door….and today SOLEIL VOLANT earned his stakes win in the $150,000 Kent Stakes at Delaware Park. And we have to preface this one by saying that the partners who own him – Luke Bourque, Jacques Dupuis, Jr. and Bobby Sutton – are undoubtedly over the moon about their boy’s victory!

Those gents have never wavered in their faith in their horse, and their enthusiasm is infectious! He was already stakes placed before today with his second in the James W. Murphy Stakes at Pimlico on Preakness Day and a third in the Tale of the Cat Stakes at Monmouth on June 28. In his last outing, he was fourth in the Old Dominion Derby-G3 at Colonial on September 6.

This finish in the Kent no doubt had the guys roaring, as Soleil Volant wore down leader Thundering – who seemed home free – to get his head in front at the wire under Samuel Marin. This gave the barn our second stakes win this afternoon, coming on the heels of Proton’s win in the Laurel Futurity.

Soleil Volant was bred in Kentucky by G. Watts Humphrey Jr. He is by Karakontie (JPN) out of the stakes placed Lemon Drop Kid mare Valentine Wish.  Luke and Jacques purchased him at the 2023 Keeneland September Yearling Sale for $25,000. Congratulations again to the connections!
