Sun Bee Shines at Delaware Park

Little SUN BEE scored her second consecutive win today at Delaware Park. Moving up to allowance company after breaking her maiden there in her last start on July 8, she bested six other fillies going a mile and 70 yards on the turf.

Will Humphrey was aboard for the first time today and kept her perfectly positioned throughout the race. Breaking from the far outside post, Sun Bee was content to settle at the back of the pack down the backside. She went on eagerly when Will asked, overtaking foes into and out of the final turn. Widest of all at the top of the stretch, she really shifted gears and went for it “with all that precious outside momentum,” as the track announcer said. Once in front, she headed to the wire with her ears up….and looked extremely pleased with herself on the gallop back!

“Sun Bee was a star today and won really well,” Will said. “She relaxed well and traveled very comfortably into the race. She showed a great attitude and hit the line hard. I think that there is still more to come from her.”

We love hearing that, Will!

Calumet Farm bred and owns this 3-year-old daughter of English Channel and Spooky Kitten, by Kitten’s Joy. Congratulations to them!
