We received a message from a friend who is a Respiratory Therapist asking for help from the racing community. Amy Vega – a former jockey and exercise rider for us back in the day – is spearheading the effort to obtain sorely-needed supplies for health care workers on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Quoting Amy directly, “These medical professionals are drowning trying to keep up with things. They are in desperate need of gowns, masks and surgical hats.” The other item which we CAN help with is jockey goggles. Amy asked if we could find a source to provide goggles; safety eyewear is essential when performing many procedures, and they have a shortage of these items.
We have just been contacted by Kroop’s, the manufacturer of jockey goggles and protective eyewear. They have agreed to sell us face shields at a discount which we will in turn donate to regional hospitals. To that end, we have now created a GoFundMe page to raise the necessary funds for this effort. We hope you will consider a donation – of any amount – to help assist the medical community. Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to Amy and ALL personnel working in the health care industry. We hope you’ll join us in supporting these extraordinary medical professionals.
