His was to get out and go at Saratoga yesterday! After a muddling first race at Delaware where he finished fourth Technique made up for it leading post to wire. Congratulations to owner breeders Mineola Farm and below is from today’s Thoroughbred Daily News:

Speightstown SD (32/11) TECHNIQUE, Dk b. or br. c. 2, Chatique, by Deputy Minister. Saratoga Race Course, 9/2, 5.5f, fast, 1:05.38. Won by a head. O—Jones Jr., Jack, G., Houchin, David; B—Mineola Farm II LLC & David R. Houchin (Ky.); T—H. Graham Motion. 2-1-0-0, $32,280. Technique hustled to the front under jockey Edgar Prado and held a one-length lead into the stretch, where he dug in to win by a head in his second start.

The dark bay or brown colt finished fourth in his career debut in a 5½-furlong maiden special weight race on August 3 at Delaware Park. He is one of two winners from five starters out of the Deputy Minister mare Chatique, who is a half sister to multiple Grade 3 winner Fantastic Fellow from the family of English champion, classic winner, and sire Henbit.

The day before, Pleine Forme became our first black-type placed two year old when she ran a cracker to finish third in the P.G. Johnson Stakes at Saratoga. She went a little wide in the stretch which left room for a fast finisher to catch her for second but a very good run.{jcomments on}
