Two For Two, and a Stakes Winner

Wins with a homebred are always special, and Madaket Stables LLC is celebrating an important one this evening by JACK AND JIM. The 2-year-old son of Slumber (GB) – Monette (FR) by Cockney Rebel (IRE) turned in a stylish and very professional performance in just his second start, the listed Central Park Stakes at Aqueduct. And he did so despite another eventful trip:

“Jack and Jim got bumped at the start by Davy Crockett due to pressure from Not For Hire, chased two- to three-wide coming under coaxing at the five-sixteenths, swung five wide into upper stretch, rallied to take command a sixteenth out, dug in and held safe over a late closing pair of rivals.”

Manny Franco had the mount, as he did in Jack And Jim’s maiden-breaking debut on September 22 at Belmont at the Big A.

The dark bay colt was foaled in New York on February 8, 2022. His sire Slumber (GB) won the Knob Creek Manhattan Stakes-G1 in 2015 and was second in the United Nations Stakes-G1 and the Joe Hirsch Turf Classic Stakes-G1 that same year. He retired with earnings of $1,477,162 and now stands at Rockridge Stud in Hudson, NY. Among his top earners is former Herringswell trainee Sy Dog, also a graded stakes winning Madaket runner.

Congrats to the Madaket team on their undefeated stakes winner, Jack and Jim!
