Two For Two at Pimlico

The grass – and everything else! – was wet at Pimlico today, but THE GRASS IS BLUE made it a double for us with her allowance win going 5 1/2 furlongs over the sloppy main track. She overcame a slight bobble out of the gate, then settled before kicking into high gear off the turn and racing 4-wide down the stretch. She took command at the 1/16th pole and drew clear to win by 2 3/4 lengths.

The 4-year-old chestnut filly is by Broken Vow, whom Graham trained to several graded stakes wins. She was making her first start for Herringswell, returning from a 10-month layoff. She last ran in the Iowa Oaks on July 2, 2021 for former trainer Bill Mott.

Well done to jockey Jorge Ruiz, and congratulations to The Grass Is Blue’s ownership group: Medallion Racing, Charles Deters, Parkland Thoroughbreds and Mike Olszewski!
