She was back on the grass after three outings on dirt and all-weather surfaces, and WARMING fired down the Laurel Park stretch to earn her second consecutive graded stakes win in the Gallorette Stakes-G3 on the Preakness Day card.
The turf was firm for the 8.5 furlong contest with eight 3-year-old and up fillies and mares entering the gate. Warming benefitted from the services of John Velazquez. They settled off the pace at the back of the pack early before unleashing a furious run down the stretch, taking the lead on the outside near the 1/16th pole.
Graham told BloodHorse that Warming “was my best 2-year-old. I had a lot of issues with her early on, but we always thought she was this kind of filly. I think we finally saw her today…this was a different level today.”
Johnny V relayed that “she relaxed really well and she finished well. I said ‘It’s time to go’ and she responded.”
Congratulations to owners Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners. By Global Campaign out of the Unusual Heat mare Haute Style, Warming was bred by M. Auerbach LLC in Kentucky. Cheers to all on this special win on a very special day here in Maryland!
