Fleeting Fancy

After two thirds in her first two starts Fleeting Fancy won quite easily last night at Penn National.  Graham trained her mother Overthinker who also won, so it’s nice to have a mother and daughter double!  Congratulations to owner/breeders Hawks Hill Farm.

Throwback Thursday

This week’s Throwback Thursday features Miss Lombardi, shown below winning the 2008 Maryland Million Ladies’ Stakes at Laurel Park.  The daughter of Unbridled Jet – Chemise by Secret Hello was owned throughout her career by Robert and Linda Newton who gave her to Graham upon her retirement.   Miss Lombardi’s first foal, 3-year-old Mount Coronet […]

Making The News: Icabad Crane

During his long racing career, Icabad Crane had a LOT of fans….those of us here at Herringswell being his biggest.  Now owned by Graham and Anita, Icabad was sent shortly after his retirement to the barn of international Three Day Event rider and Olympian Phillip Dutton to begin his second career.  He’s taken to it […]

Can’thelpbelieving

Another winner at Gulfstream today.  This time it was Can’thelpbelieving who Albert Frassetto and his son John bought from Ireland last fall.  He had one race at Keeneland prior to today, where he finished a fast finishing second over the same distance.  Congratulations to them on the purchase of this Duke Of Marmalade colt (don’t […]

Latique

After many near misses and being SO consistent in her first 5 starts Latique finally got her win today, also at Gulfstream.  I often find it strange that the horses can run well at lesser tracks and then for some reason take a big step up at tough meets like Gulfstream Park in the winter.  […]

Ay No Digas

First time starter for us, Ay No Digas, was ably ridden by Matt Rispoli for his first win.  It was a good turf course at Gulstream from the rain they’ve had but obviously it didn’t bother him.  Congratulations to Narola Stable.  Ay No Digas was our first starter for them too.

Ziptomylu

Another filly who appears to like running from the front is Ziptomylu who broke her maiden today at Tampa.  She grabbed the lead and was not going to be denied when she was challenged by horses before the wire.  She dug down and maintained her lead.  There was a Stewards Inquiry as she drifted out […]

Ride Away

Most of us have never met him as he recently arrived from Oaklawn, but Ride Away won his allowance race yesterday at Tampa.  Congratulations to Pin Oak Stud who are also the breeders of this Candy Ride three year old colt.

He’s BACK

Looking at the latest photo it immediately brings back memories of the fun, excitement and pure enjoyment he gave everyone here for the last two years.  He’s arrived at Jonabell Stud in Kentucky for his first season in the northern hemisphere.                             […]

Sunny photos

It’s cold and snowy in Maryland so Dana Wimpfheimer sent up some sunny photos from Palm Meadows.       Atlantic Spring (Leo) and Can’thelpbelieving (Alice)                     Autobahn Legend (David)                       The Careless Cat (David) and […]
