Our new Charmer

Valiant Girl elevated herself this afternoon with a Grade III win in the My Charmer at Calder.  Matt Rispoli gave her an Edgar Prado rail hugging ride behind a slow pace and managed to squeeze through in the final furlong.  Valiant Girl has won a third of her races since being shipped Stateside, an allowance, […]

2,1,1

That is how Ilikecandy’s race record reads after today’s win at Laurel by many lengths.  She went off the hot favorite and didn’t disappoint in her hand-ridden win.  Congratulations to Robert La Penta.

I’ll Call – off the turf

Churchill Downs seems to have had so much rain recently that when I’ll Call eventually got to run his race was ‘off the turf’.  He’s run well on the dirt where he was second, so he took a shot.  He wore down his main opponent in the final strides to win by 1/2 a length.  […]

Defining Product

Sagamore Farm’s Defining Product had his first win today at Laurel.  He is a son of the late Harlan’s Holiday, so well done to him and congratulations to the owners.

Irish Score scores first win

Ever since I walked in the barn and saw a smaller version of Animal Kingdom walking towards me Irish Score has always been ‘little AK’ to me!  She’d run two very nice races on the dirt where she was placed both times but today’s start on the turf blew them away – literally.  She got […]

Inimitable Romanee wins Grade III

photo by Coglianese photos You never know until you try!  Inimitable Romanee had never tried one and a half miles before and never run in a Graded Stakes.  She was totally unfancied in the betting as she went off as the 28/1 outsider.  The article from the Bloodhorse below sums the race up, along with […]

Ilikecandy

Yes she does!  I’ve always wondered if this peppermint loving filly was named because of her love of candy,  but I’m sure it was because of her mothers name Real Candy!  First time out she was second and she made her second race into a winning one today at Laurel.  Congratulations to Robert La Penta.

Weave

Buttonwood Group have two fillies in the barn at the moment and both are now winners after Weave wended her way to the front at Laurel yesterday.  She didn’t have the easiest of trips and in fact the second horse was disqualified, but Weave got there by a nose.   Congratulations to Buttonwood Group.

Churchill First

Daring Dancer won her allowance race on the first day of Churchill after previously winning her first start.  Everything about her breeding (Empire Maker out of a Red Ransom mare) points to non-precocity but she has bent the rules!  Congratulations to owners and breeders Sagamore Farm.
