Coup and First Whipoorwill

After sixteen months off the track Coup ran a gutsy race with Rosie Napravnik aboard in her come back race at Keeneland.  This was her third win from six starts and we were delighted with this performance.  Congratulations to owner and breeder George Strawbridge, Jr. First Whippoorwill was winning her sixth race!  She’s run eighteen […]

Little Alternate

Interrupted could also be a little Alternation, as she is a half sister to the multiple Graded Stakes winner.  I prefer to think of her as little Alternate as we had her mother Alternate, who was also a multiple Graded Stakes winner.  She won her second race today from her second start, both times coming […]

Vinegar Hill

Vinegar Hill led the field wire to wire yesterday at Keeneland.  His first race at Laurel was a sprint on the turf where he finished 3rd, and he clearly relished the longer distance.  Congratulations to owner/breeder Brereton C. Jones.

Fifth win for Occasional View

Alan Garcia didn’t pick up the stick today as he won his race at Keeneland very easily.  The official margin was about 2 1/2 lengths but Alan was gearing down and it would have been at least 8 if he’d kept riding.  This gelded son of Silver Deputy was racking up his 5th win and […]

Auntie Martha

She had a spotty start to her career but it all came together for her first win today at Keeneland for Auntie Martha.  One of the first crop of the ill-fated War Pass, Auntie Martha is owned and bred by Lazy F Ranch.  Congratulations to them.

Lemon De Oro

She’s been hard to figure out.  Works great at home but her two runs over 1 1/16 miles on the turf have been disappointing.  Today she tried 7f on the Keeneland polytrack and led from start to finish.  As I’ve said before it’s a hard distance to guage as it’s kind of between a sprint […]

Flash’s third win

Every runner we had today ran a good race but Flash Fever ran the best of all.  She is now the proud winner of three races, four seconds and two thirds out of only twelve starts – Miss Consistency.  Congratulations to Brereton Jones, owner and breeder.

Autobahn again

After breaking his maiden last month at Presque Isle on the synthetic surface Autobahn Legend tried the Keeneland synthetic yesterday and liked that too.  He just got up on the wire to record his second win from four starts. Another synthetic specialist Eagle Poise, ran a wonderful second in the Sycamore Stakes.  He is usually […]

Hoofit gone

We lost Hoofit yesterday. He was known affectionately in the barn as Mr. Grumpy as he always had his big ears back when he looked at you!  All show, he was a sweetheart.  We’ll miss his big white face and long ears looking out at us.  He had quite a history……. Hoofit       […]

The Gripper

Grip Hands has won a third of his races since being in training with us.  He won his 5th race today (he won his 4th in his last start).  It was a mile and one sixteenth at Keeneland and he played ‘catch me if you can’!  They didn’t.  Congratulations to West Point Thoroughbreds.
